JPG text editor. For files with no layers left.

A JPG is one flat picture, so there is no text box to click. Tell us which words to change and the AI redraws them in place.

The short answer

You can’t retype text in a JPG, because saving it merged the words and the background into one layer. This editor finds the words you name, rebuilds the area behind them and redraws the new wording in the same style.

Compressed file

A poster saved from a website

Web copies carry compression noise around the letters. The new date is blended into that same grain, so it doesn’t look sharper than its neighbours.

What makes JPG text hard to change

Design apps keep text as editable objects. Exporting to JPG throws that away: the letters become part of a single grid of pixels, then lossy compression blurs their edges slightly.

Doing it by hand means cloning out the old word, identifying the font, retyping and matching the color, and then making clean new type look as compressed as the rest. That is a lot of work for one changed word.

Your download is a PNG, so the edit doesn’t lose more quality by being compressed a second time. Convert it back to JPG only if a platform requires it.

Common JPG fixes

A typo found after publishing

Correct the spelling on the exported image without going back to the source file.

A changed date or venue

Update event details on a graphic that has already been approved.

Old marketing images

Refresh the wording on images whose working files were lost years ago.

Images from a supplier

Change words on artwork you are licensed to use but only received as a JPG.

How to change text in a JPG

  1. 1

    Upload the JPG

Choose the largest version you have, up to 10 MB. PNG and WebP work too.

  2. 2

    Name the words to change

Type the text as it appears, including capitals, and then the new wording.

  3. 3

    Download your image

Check the result with the comparison slider, then save it as a PNG.

When a JPG editor isn’t the answer

You still have the source file

If you have the PSD, Figma or Canva file, edit the text there. It is exact and free.

Heavily compressed tiny files

If the letters have dissolved into blocks, there isn’t enough detail to match.

PDFs and multi-page documents

Export the page as an image first. We edit one image at a time.

Frequently asked questions

Can you edit text in a JPG file?

Not directly, because a JPG has no text layer. An AI editor gets the same outcome by repainting the words as pixels.

Is this JPG text editor free?

Your first edit is free after signing in. Further edits use credits, starting at $3.90 for 8.

Will my JPG lose quality?

The result downloads as a PNG, which adds no new compression. Outside the changed area we keep your original pixels whenever the change is contained.

What is the largest file I can upload?

10 MB per image, in JPEG, PNG or WebP format.

Do I need to know the font?

No. The lettering is matched from the image itself, so you don’t need to name or install anything.

Lost the source file? That’s fine.

Upload the JPG you have and fix the words. Your first edit is free.
